Handmade Bricks

Handmade bricks are slightly different to machine made bricks, but still increasingly popular, especially in the Staffordshire and Cheshire area. These bricks are usually made in moulds on a bench, similarly to stock bricks. However, there is no machine used in compacting the clay into a mould, instead using hand-thrown techniques. This means that each brick has a distinct pattern on the face, resulting in a unique, original-looking product.

There’s something innately appealing about good old British handmade brick. With its solidity, durability and familiarity – not to mention its startling regional colour variations – there’s plenty to attract self-builders and renovators alike.
