Roof Slate

Reclaimed roof slate is the traditional, long-lasting choice for pitched roofs — natural slate routinely lasts a hundred years or more, so a reclaimed slate still has decades of service left in it. At Jim Wise Reclamation we hold a large stock of reclaimed Welsh and Westmorland slates in the full range of traditional sizes.

By traditional naming, sizes run from Viscountess (18 x 9 inch) and Countess (20 x 10 inch) up through Wide Countess (20 x 12 inch) and Small Duchess (22 x 12 inch), plus larger 24 x 12 inch and 24 x 14 inch Welsh slates and header slates (14 x 10 inch). We also stock prized Westmorland random green slate by the ton and Welsh random tone slates, plus smooth slate flooring for floors and worktops.

Welsh slate is a deep blue-grey, while Westmorland brings a distinctive green tone — both age beautifully and suit period and new roofs alike.
